The study was commissioned by the South African Embassy in Sudan, in the context of diagnosing and enhancing trade between the Government of Sudan (GoS) and the Government of South Africa for the benefit of the two countries. The ultimate purpose of this study is to strengthen the national machinery responsible for trade and development in the two African countries and to provide guidance for the successful implementation and monitoring of trade interests between the two countries. A second objective of the study is to encourage Sudan and South Africa to bring the commodities and services issue back on top of their common trade agenda to exploit the vast untapped trade and investment opportunities that exist in both countries.
